Welcome to the Bear Den

Third Grade
      or 8-9 Yrs

Den Leaders
      Joe Gruver and John Molchany
Our Goals   In the Bear Den, there are four general achievement groups: God, Country, Family, and Self. There are 6 adventures with a certain number of requirements in each of the six adventures, 1 Child/Adult Activity and 1 Elective Adventure your Bear Cub must complete to earn his Bear Badge.  This is the year your son will grow in amazing ways. After earning their Bear Badge, the scout may earn additional Belt Loops by completing additional Adventures.

Summary Much of the advancement for the Bear rank is done by the scout with his family outside of the den.  The parent signs off in the scout's handbook and the Den Leader records the advancements from the handbook in our tracking Software called Scout Track. Each of you will receive a login so you that you can see your sons progress.  The Bear program relies heavily on family involvement, but you will see this gradually change with the Scout doing more with his den and more individual direction as he graduates to Webelos.

Ready to join? Then you probably have some questions. Contact the den leader(s) beardenleader@cattypack94.org and we will get back with you as soon as possible.

What the Bears are "Doing"...

September 8 2016

Tonight was our sign-up night. We had one boy sign-up and all the Scouts that were in attendance were very Scout like.  We made Rain Gutter Regatta Boats out of Pool Noodles and then raced them.  All and all it was a great night!

Please complete Achievement 3b from the Bear Handbook by finding out about two great famous Americans and be able to tell what they did or are doing to improve our way of life.  Also please look over Bear Claws as we will be working on this in the upcoming weeks. We will discuss this at an upcoming  meeting on the October 13.  Also Akelas, please review the pamphlet in the front of your Scouts Handbook.

As leaders we have one Field Trip Scheduled for October 6 at Catasauqua Police Department at 7PM. We are also in the process of setting up an field trip for September 29 to go learn about animals.

Thank you to all who attended tonight and we welcome new comers.  See you all Sepetmber 22!
